The charge alleged a failure to maintain the standard of practice of the profession and failure to exercise due diligence to ensure appropriate and timely follow-up care to a patient after performing a biopsy. The matter was resolved through post-charge alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The charge has not been admitted or proven at a hearing. Dr. Akinbiyi signed an undertaking agreeing to write a letter of apology to the patient, successfully complete courses on patient communication and the follow-up of test results, write a self-reflection, cooperate with an audit of his electronic medical record to ensure he is appropriately following up patients who have failed to attend for appointments, and pay costs. Provided that he completes those tasks within the specified timelines, the College will not proceed further with the charge against him. The matter was resolved through post-charge alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The charge has not been admitted or proven at a hearing. Dr. Akinbiyi signed an undertaking agreeing to complete specific educational modules, successfully complete courses on patient communication, team communication and medical record-keeping, write a self-reflection, and pay costs. Provided that he completes those tasks within the specified timelines, the College will not proceed further with the charge against him.
