The charge alleged that Dr. De Rita was involved in an altercation with members of hospital staff and that he used abusive language toward those staff members. The charge was not admitted or proven at a hearing. The matter was resolved through post-charge alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The ADR agreement had Dr. De Rita sign an undertaking where he agreed to provide proof to the College that he had provided apologies to the parties involved in the altercation, completed an educational course on Civility and Communication in Healthcare, and agreed to comply with the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s workplace expectations and safety policies. He also agreed to pay a portion of the costs incurred by the College in investigating this matter. These terms have been completed. On an ongoing basis, Dr. De Rita also agreed to refrain from further episodes of unprofessional conduct and committed to interacting with healthcare colleagues in a collaborative and respectful manner.
