POLICY: Consultations - College Policy Development
Preamble
The CPSS routinely updates, changes, and develops policy related to the mission and values of the CPSS. The College often asks for stakeholder (members, public, organizations) input with regard to these updates, changes or developments. The College is appreciative of honest and thoughtful responses from these individuals and organizations.
The Council has adopted transparency principles which, among other things, state that Council will govern with an appropriate balance between confidentiality and transparency.
The College respects the authors’ right to their opinions and expectation of fairness and privacy. The important aspect of consultations are the opinions expressed in such consultations and not the authors of those opinions. Not all responders may want to have their comments publicly available and attributable to them.
To facilitate candour by respondents, the Council has decided that information which identifies individual respondents will generally be redacted if a member of the public requests access to or a copy of a Council document which includes responses to a request for consultation.
Policy
Unless otherwise directed by the Council, information that identifies an individual respondent to a request by the College for consultation will be redacted before a Council document is made available to a member of the public (including physicians and the media).
Unless otherwise directed by the Council, information that identifies an institutional respondent to a request by the College for consultation will not be redacted before a Council document is made available to a member of the public (including physicians and the media).
